A beautiful coin, the Standing Liberty Quarter was introduced in 1916. In the middle of 1917, the design was changed slightly after a public outcry over Liberty's bare breast. Type 1 coins are thus 1916-1917, and Type 2 1917-1930, when the series reached its conclusion. The obverse depicts Liberty standing on a pedestal with a shield; the reverse shows an eagle in flight.
