1968 No "S" Proof Set #17080

This is truly a unique set. Not only is the 1968 No "S" Roosevelt Dime one of the rarest 20th century coins, this coin is the discovery coin. The coin grades Proof 68. It has a light cameo contrast, although it would never receive the cameo designation at any major grading service. Please note all the haze and specks you see are on the plastic. There are absolutely no problems on the actual coin itself. The plastic has some light hairline scratches from the handling as folks at Numismatic News inspected the set. From a documentation perspective, the set comes with the following: Original Mailing Box From the mint to the recipient Original letter dated January 20, 1971...yes this was not discovered until 1971...from the original owner to Numismatic News Several original post cards from Cliff Mishler to the original owner talking about the set Several copies of post cards from Cliff Mishler to the original owner talking about the set A Numismatic News Dated March 2, 1971 briefly mentioning the 1968 no "S" set. A Copy of Numismatic News dated February 23, 1971 announcing the discovery set. This also shows a picture of the coin and gives credit to the original owner (by name) for discovering the set.
